A powerful storm wreaked havoc in the region last night, causing significant disruptions and tragic consequences. Harpreet Singh, son of Gurmail Singh and a resident of Mao Sahib, Bilga police station, lost his life when a tree fell on him as he was returning home on his motorcycle. The accident occurred at Cheema Chowk near Noormahal.

Harpreet, who had just finished his day’s work, was riding back to his village when the strong winds uprooted a tree, which then struck him. Eyewitnesses reported that he died instantly at the scene. His untimely death has cast a pall of sorrow over his family and community.

The storm also caused extensive damage to local infrastructure. Many areas experienced power outages and interruptions to water supply, leaving residents without essential services. In addition, sign sheds in front of shops were torn away by the high winds, contributing to the chaotic aftermath.
