In a significant development in the murder case of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, a person has been arrested in Ludhiana. Punjab Police Chief Gaurav Yadav shared the update on Saturday, revealing that Surjit Sushil Singh was apprehended in a coordinated operation between the Punjab and Mumbai Police forces. Singh has since been handed over to Mumbai Police for further investigation.
The arrest was announced by Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav on social media platform X, formerly Twitter. He stated that this joint effort was a crucial advancement in the high-profile case. Sujit Sushil Singh, a Mumbai resident, was allegedly involved in the conspiracy behind the murder. Just three days prior to the arrest, Nitin Gautam Sapre reportedly aided Sujit in the plot.
The murder took place on October 12 in Mumbai’s Bandra area, where Baba Siddique was shot by three assailants in Kher Nagar. Siddique, aged 66, was a well-known figure in Mumbai politics. The case has since attracted widespread attention, and further investigations are underway as authorities work to uncover more details.
