Former U.S. President Donald Trump has ended his relationship with billionaire Elon Musk, saying there will be “serious consequences” if Musk supports Democratic candidates. In a recent interview with NBC News, Trump stated clearly that he has no plans to talk to Musk again and accused the Tesla and SpaceX CEO of disrespecting the Office of the President.
Trump said, “Our relationship is over. I have no intention of speaking with him. He has insulted the presidency.” The former president’s comments came after Musk publicly criticized one of Trump’s major political plans, calling it harmful to the economy. Musk had also hinted at controversial topics involving Trump, which led to a sharp reaction.
Trump didn’t stop at ending ties—he also warned Musk of political consequences if he supports Democrats in future elections. “If he backs the Democrats, there will be serious consequences,” Trump said. He did not explain what those consequences would be, but many believe it could involve cutting federal support for Musk’s companies, like SpaceX and Starlink.
Musk, who once supported Trump and reportedly donated millions to Republican causes, has remained silent on Trump’s latest comments. Some Republican leaders, including Vice President J.D. Vance, have called Musk’s criticism a “big mistake” and urged the two to move past their differences. But Trump made it clear that he sees no future with Musk.
This fallout between two of the most influential figures in American politics and technology could have a major impact on the political and business landscape. With the 2026 elections approaching, all eyes are on how this public feud will affect voter support, campaign funding, and the future of GOP leadership.
