Amritsar, December 23
The Vigilance Bureau (VB) has moved an application in a Tarn Taran court, seeking a polygraph test on a DIG and a DSP in connection with a graft and NDPS case registered against them. The court has fixed January 5 as the next date of hearing. A two-member SIT is investigating the case, in which DSP Lakhvir Singh was arrested on July 6.
The Bhikhwind police had, on June 30, arrested Surjit Singh of Mari Megha village with 900-gm opium. His interrogation led to arrest of Pishora Singh. Later, the police nabbed then Faridkot DSP Lakhvir Singh on the charge of taking a bribe of Rs 10 lakh in lieu of letting off Pishora in a case. Then DIG (Ferozepur Range) Inderbir Singh’s name cropped up during DSP’s interrogation, who alleged that he was acting on his direction.
