The Supreme Court today refused to hear a petition accusing the authorities in Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh of violating its orders on demolishing structures. A bench consisting of Justice BR Gwai, Justice PK Misra, and Justice KV Viswanathan said they were not willing to consider the plea since the petitioner was not directly or indirectly affected by the alleged actions.

The court made it clear that it would only hear cases brought by those whose properties had been demolished, urging those directly affected to approach the court themselves. The lawyer for the petitioner argued that the Supreme Court had previously ruled that no structures should be demolished without its permission. The lawyer also alleged that in one case, a property was demolished right after an FIR was filed.

However, the bench remained firm in its stance, stating that only individuals directly impacted by the demolitions could seek justice from the court. The court emphasized that it did not want to entertain petitions from individuals not personally involved in the matter.
