Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah met Prime Minister Narendra Modi today, where he handed over a copy of the resolution passed by the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, urging the restoration of the Union Territory’s statehood. This marks Abdullah’s first official visit to Delhi since assuming office.
During the half-hour meeting, Abdullah discussed the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir and highlighted the ongoing development projects in the region. The restoration of statehood has been a key demand for many political leaders in the region, and Abdullah emphasized its importance in the meeting.
In a gesture of goodwill, Abdullah presented a traditional Kashmiri shawl to the Prime Minister. Earlier, the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister also met Union Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss related issues concerning the region.
The visit comes at a crucial time as the political landscape in Jammu and Kashmir continues to evolve, with key discussions centered on governance, development, and security. Abdullah’s meeting with top leaders in Delhi reflects his administration’s efforts to push forward the statehood demand and ensure progress for the Union Territory.
