The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an important weather update for Punjab. Many districts in the state are now in the red zone due to heavy rainfall. Current floods have already affected several areas, and the IMD warns that the situation may worsen in the coming days, indicating the possibility of severe destruction.
Today, the IMD has issued a red alert for half of Punjab. Districts including Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Ludhiana, Phagwara, Firozpur, and Fazilka are expected to receive heavy rain. The alert also warns of lightning and strong winds of 30–40 km/h. People are advised to stay cautious, avoid open fields, and not stand under trees or electric poles during the storm.
Additionally, the IMD has issued a yellow warning for 3rd September in some northern districts, especially Gurdaspur and Pathankot. Residents in these areas need to be extremely careful. On 4th and 5th September, rain is expected in many parts of Punjab, with some districts likely to experience moderate rainfall. Authorities urge everyone to follow safety instructions and stay updated with local weather reports to avoid accidents and damage.
