An unclaimed bag discovered at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, West Bengal, caused widespread panic today, prompting the arrival of the bomb disposal squad. The incident occurred near the area where junior doctors have been protesting since August 9.
According to footage aired on local TV channels, the bomb disposal squad, accompanied by sniffer dogs, thoroughly searched the location for any potential threats. The site, which is usually crowded with protesting doctors, was empty at the time as the doctors had shifted their protest to the Swasth Bhavan in Salt Lake.
Police sources have confirmed that, so far, no objectionable items or evidence have been found in the vicinity. A police official stated, “The bomb disposal squad is checking the bag,” indicating that the situation is under control but still being monitored closely.
The incident caused temporary chaos and concern among the hospital staff and patients, but normalcy is gradually being restored as authorities continue their investigation. The ongoing protests by junior doctors add to the tension at the hospital, making the discovery of the unclaimed bag particularly alarming.
