Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, without naming anyone directly, launched a sharp attack on the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, over remarks made during his visit to the United States. Addressing participants in the third batch of the Rajya Sabha internship program, Dhankhar expressed deep concern about individuals in constitutional positions aligning with forces that harm national interests.
Dhankhar, who also serves as the Speaker of the Upper House of Parliament, emphasized that it is both unfortunate and unacceptable for anyone holding a constitutional office to make statements that appear to support the country’s adversaries. He remarked that it pained him to see a lack of awareness or disregard for national interest by those in such high positions.
Although Dhankhar did not mention Rahul Gandhi by name, his comments were widely interpreted as a response to Gandhi’s recent criticisms of the Indian government during his visit to the United States. The Vice President’s remarks underscore the ongoing political tensions and the sensitivity of statements made by Indian leaders on foreign soil.
