Heavy rain lashed Mumbai and its suburbs on Thursday, causing widespread flooding and bringing traffic to a standstill. The downpour led to severe waterlogging on many roads, disrupting daily life and causing significant inconvenience to residents. Local trains, which are the lifeline of the city, faced delays due to the waterlogged tracks, further complicating the commute for thousands of passengers.
In addition to the disruption of road and rail traffic, air travel was also affected. Eleven flights were cancelled, and several others were delayed, causing inconvenience to travelers and highlighting the extent of the weather’s impact on the city’s infrastructure.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted more rain in the next 24 hours, raising concerns about further disruptions and the potential for worsening conditions. Authorities have advised residents to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel to minimize risks and ensure safety.
Emergency services are on high alert, and efforts are underway to address the flooding and restore normalcy. The municipal corporation has deployed teams to clear waterlogged areas and provide assistance to those affected by the heavy rains. The situation remains fluid, with authorities closely monitoring weather updates and preparing for additional measures if required.
