In a landmark decision, a sessions court in Mumbai has sentenced Parvez Tak to death for the brutal murders of his stepdaughter, actress Laila Khan, along with Laila’s mother Selina and her four siblings. The verdict was delivered by Additional Sessions Judge Sachin Pawar on Friday, following Tak’s conviction on May 9 for multiple offenses, including murder and destruction of evidence under the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The tragic incident occurred in February 2011, when Laila Khan, her mother Selina, and her siblings were killed in their bungalow in Igatpuri, Nashik district, Maharashtra. The case remained unsolved for several months until Tak’s arrest by the Jammu and Kashmir Police brought the gruesome details to light.
Tak, who was Selina’s third husband, was found guilty of the heinous crime that shocked the nation. The investigation revealed that Tak committed the murders to gain control over the family’s property and assets. The court’s decision to impose the death penalty underscores the gravity of his actions and serves as a stern warning against such criminal acts.
This ruling marks a significant moment in the pursuit of justice for the victims and their surviving relatives, bringing some closure to a case that has haunted the public for years.
