In anticipation of the imminent Lok Sabha general elections, the Punjab government has expedited the resolution of lingering administrative matters. The Central Election Commission is poised to declare election dates, triggering the enforcement of the Model Election Code nationwide, including Punjab. Consequently, state governments will be prohibited from undertaking official duties.

Having efficiently executed the transfer of officials associated with administrative and governmental functions, the state government has also orchestrated significant reassignments within the Punjab Police. Officers stationed at the same location for three years or serving in their home districts have undergone transfers.

As the election dates loom, political parties have redirected their focus towards election-centric endeavors. Aam Aadmi Party’s National Convener, Arvind Kejriwal, and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann recently toured Jalandhar, Ludhiana, and Amritsar. During their two-day visit, they inaugurated Aam Aadmi Clinics and Schools of Eminence, while concurrently hosting government and business meetings. These elections are of paramount importance for the ruling Aam Aadmi Party, with the potential to underscore the opposition’s popularity. The political landscape is primed for a dynamic and closely watched electoral season in Punjab.
