MS Dhoni once again proved why he is known as one of the best finishers in cricket. In a must-win match for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the playoff race, Dhoni led his team to a thrilling five-wicket victory over Lucknow. When Dhoni came to bat, CSK needed 53 runs in the last 5 overs. He played a smart and aggressive knock, scoring 26 runs off just 11 balls with four boundaries and a six.

Shivam Dube also played a vital role, scoring 43 runs from 37 balls. His calm and composed batting, especially in the 20th over, helped CSK chase down the target of 167 with ease. This win ended CSK’s streak of five back-to-back losses. Earlier in the match, CSK had won the toss and chose to bowl first.

Lucknow started poorly with opener Aiden Markram dismissed for just 6 runs. Though Rishabh Pant (63) and Mitchell Marsh (30) tried to stabilize the innings, CSK bowlers kept the pressure on. Jadeja bowled Marsh, and Dhoni stumped Ayush Badoni, who scored 22 runs. In the final over, Pant and Abdul Samad were dismissed on back-to-back balls, limiting Lucknow to 166/6.

CSK began their chase strongly with openers Sheikh Rashid and Rachin Ravindra adding 52 runs in just 5 overs. Rashid scored 27 runs, while Ravindra made 37. Though a few middle-order batsmen got out quickly, Dhoni’s entry changed the game. His aggressive shots and partnership with Dube sealed the victory.

This was Chennai’s second win of the season and a much-needed one. On the other hand, it was Lucknow’s first loss after winning three matches in a row. The playoff race is heating up, and Dhoni’s magic is once again keeping CSK’s hopes alive.
