Air Chief Marshal Amarpreet Singh, the Chief of the Indian Air Force, has raised serious concerns about the continued delays in various defence procurement projects. Speaking at the CII conference, he emphasized that not even a single project has been completed on time and called for urgent action to resolve this issue.
Without naming specific projects or timelines, the Air Chief highlighted the negative impact of these delays on the Indian Air Force’s preparedness. He expressed disappointment over Hindustan Aeronautics Limited’s delay in supplying Tejas light combat aircraft, stating that meeting timelines should be a top priority. “Once a timeline is committed, it should be honoured. We should avoid making promises we cannot fulfill,” he said.
Speaking publicly for the first time after the four-day-long military standoff between India and Pakistan, he described Operation Sindhoor as a “national victory.” He said the operation had given the armed forces a clear understanding of where the nation is heading and what is required in the future. He praised the combined efforts of the armed forces and all related agencies for the success of the operation, calling it a result of walking on the path of truth. “I believe God was with us,” he added.
The Air Chief underlined the need for the nation to continue adopting a whole-of-nation approach when it comes to strengthening defence capabilities. He stressed that the spirit shown during Operation Sindhoor must continue as India moves forward with its defence preparedness.
His remarks send a strong message about the need for efficiency, accountability, and teamwork in the defence sector to ensure national security goals are met without delay.
