US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping have recently resumed direct talks after a long pause in discussions between the two global powers. This conversation came at a crucial time when the lack of dialogue between the United States and China was already affecting global trade.
President Trump, while posting on his social media platform Truth Social, said, “I like President Xi of China, always have and always will. But he is very stubborn, and it’s very hard to make a deal with him!” This message reflected the ongoing tension and challenges in trade negotiations between the two nations.
The talks between the two leaders happened on Thursday, shortly after trade negotiations between the two countries had stalled again. This recent breakdown occurred just after both nations had agreed on May 12 to lower some of their tariff rates to support smoother dialogue. However, that move didn’t last long, and discussions once again came to a halt.
Experts believe that the main reason for the deadlock is the fierce competition between the US and China to maintain their economic dominance globally. Both countries are trying to strengthen their positions, which is creating a deadlock and uncertainty in international markets.
