The US State Department has stated that America maintains “good” relations with both India and Pakistan and that its diplomats remain “committed” to both nations. Spokesperson Tammy Bruce, speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, emphasized that working with both countries is beneficial for the region and the world, paving the way for a positive future. She noted that US ties with both nations remain strong, adding that having a president who communicates with everyone is an advantage.

Her remarks came in response to a question about the possibility of increased US support to Pakistan in arms sales following Pakistani Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir’s meeting with President Trump. She was also asked whether this would come at the cost of Trump’s relationship with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Referring to the military conflict between India and Pakistan in May, Bruce acknowledged the potential severity of the situation.

She explained that President Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and Secretary of State Mark Rubio acted swiftly to address the crisis. The US leadership made calls, took measures to stop attacks, and brought both sides together to work toward a lasting resolution. Bruce claimed that top US leaders played an active role in preventing a potential disaster.

India, however, maintains that the cessation of hostilities with Pakistan happened without any US mediation and was the result of direct communication between the two militaries.

Bruce also highlighted US involvement in facilitating peace agreements in various global conflicts, citing examples such as Cambodia–Thailand, Israel–Iran, Rwanda–DR Congo, Egypt–Ethiopia, Serbia–Kosovo, and most recently, Armenia–Azerbaijan. In a separate interview, Secretary Rubio credited President Trump for helping to end several conflicts worldwide, reinforcing America’s diplomatic role in promoting peace.
