Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today raised questions over the sudden absence of former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar from public life after his resignation. Speaking at an event organized in honor of the opposition’s joint candidate for the Vice President’s post, B. Sudarshan Reddy, Rahul asked why Dhankhar had gone “completely silent” and where he was “hiding.”
Rahul Gandhi suggested that there was a “story” behind Dhankhar’s resignation. He expressed surprise that a former Vice President of India was in such a situation where “he cannot speak a word” and has to remain away from the public eye. “Where has the former Vice President gone? Why is he hiding?” Rahul questioned.
The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha recalled that on the day Dhankhar resigned, senior Congress leader K.C. Venugopal came and informed him that the Vice President had stepped down. “There is a big story behind why he resigned. Some of you may know it, some may not,” Rahul said.
He further added that there is also a story about why Dhankhar is not visible now. “Everyone knows why the former Vice President is in a situation where he cannot speak and has to remain hidden,” Rahul remarked.
