The flood situation in the border town of Ajnala, Punjab, has become more serious as water from the Ravi river continues to flow into the Ramdas region. Since 4:00 a.m. today, the district administration has been carrying out rescue operations with the help of the Army, BSF, and NDRF teams.

Villages Affected by Floods

So far, 46 villages in the Ramdas area have been hit by floods. Just yesterday, the number was limited to around 20 villages. The situation worsened after the Madhopur floodgate broke, allowing a large amount of water to rush in from behind. Even the Ramdas town itself has started filling up with water, increasing the threat to residents.

Rescue and Relief Operations

Many people who refused to leave their homes yesterday were trapped in the rising waters. Today, rescue teams managed to safely move them to secure shelters. The NDRF is using advanced boats that can operate even in five feet of water, which has made the rescue work faster and safer compared to earlier days.

Support for Flood Victims

The administration is providing food, drinking water, and medical aid to the flood-affected people. Temporary shelters have been set up at safe locations, where the rescued families are being shifted. Doctors and medical teams are also available to look after health concerns in relief camps.

Rising Concerns

While the administration is working continuously, the situation remains worrying. With fresh water entering from behind, more than a dozen new villages have come under the flood’s impact. The number of affected areas is increasing every hour, and the danger is far from over.

Authorities are urging people to cooperate, stay alert, and move to safe places immediately when advised.
