Ceremony Suspended Due to Flood Situation

The daily retreat ceremony at the Hussainiwala border in Ferozepur has been suspended until further notice due to the rising water level in the Sutlej River. The swelling river has submerged the Joint Check Post (JCP), where the Border Security Force (BSF) of India and the Pakistan Rangers jointly conduct the retreat ceremony. With the area completely waterlogged, authorities decided to halt the event for public safety.

Officials Review the Situation

Ferozepur Deputy Commissioner Deepshikha Sharma and BSF DIG visited the affected area to review the situation. They confirmed that relief operations have been started on a large scale to protect important posts like Satpal outpost from the rising water.

According to the BSF DIG, the ceremony has been suspended only as a temporary measure, keeping in mind the safety of visitors and security personnel. Authorities have advised the public not to visit the Hussainiwala border during this period, as the situation remains unsafe due to heavy flooding.

Ceremony to Resume Later

Officials assured that once the water level recedes and the area is declared safe, the retreat ceremony will resume. The public will be informed in advance when normal activities at the border restart.
