Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that terrorism is a collective challenge for humanity and must be fought together. Speaking at the 10-member SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization) leaders’ summit, he reminded the world that India has been facing the pain of terrorism for the last seven decades.
PM Modi added, “Recently, we saw the ugly face of terrorism in Pahalgam. Terrorism, separatism, and extremism are serious threats to peace, prosperity, and stability in any nation. It is a global challenge for humanity.”
The SCO leaders began a full-day discussion to shape the future roadmap of the organization. Chinese President Xi Jinping welcomed the leaders, including PM Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin. The 25th SCO summit officially started on Sunday night with a banquet hosted by Xi.

This year’s summit is being called the biggest in SCO’s history. As the current chair, China invited leaders from 20 foreign nations and heads of 10 international organizations, including UN Secretary-General António Guterres, to the SCO Plus meeting.
Observers are closely watching the summit, especially after PM Modi’s meeting with Xi and amid US President Donald Trump’s trade tariff tensions. A new roadmap for future cooperation is expected.
