China held its largest-ever military parade in Beijing on Wednesday, marking 80 years since the end of World War II. The grand event was attended by world leaders and highlighted China’s growing military strength and modern technology. President Xi Jinping led the ceremony, with Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un as special guests.

Two major aircraft made their official debut during the parade. The first was the KJ-600 carrier-based early warning aircraft, designed to monitor naval fleets and detect enemy activities. This plane will greatly boost China’s naval defense and surveillance capabilities. The second was the two-seater J-20S stealth fighter jet, considered a fifth-generation combat aircraft. It comes with advanced stealth features and high-end avionics, earning the title of “China’s modern warplane.”
China showcased a wide range of new weapons. These included the HQ-19 anti-ballistic missile system, drones, tanks, the PCH-191 long-range rocket launcher, anti-submarine missiles, and unmanned ground vehicles. Six new surface-to-air missiles, including HQ-19, HQ-12, and HQ-29, were also displayed. China further presented its DF-5 intercontinental nuclear missiles, claiming they have the capacity to reach anywhere in the world.
The joint presence of Xi, Putin, and Kim at a military parade was widely seen as a strong message to the United States and President Donald Trump. The event followed a Shanghai Cooperation Organization meeting where India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi also met Xi and Putin. Interestingly, almost no Western leaders attended. Trump accused China of using the event to “plot” against America.
Held at Beijing’s historic Tiananmen Square, the parade was more than a military show. Analysts believe it was China’s way of projecting global influence and signaling its ambition to shape a new world order beyond U.S. dominance.
