Panic spread among residents of Dhangu Peer village, located on the Punjab-Himachal border near Pathankot, when a sudden landslide struck the area today. Heavy debris rolled down the hillside, crashing onto one side of the village. A large portion of the debris hit a house, completely destroying it, while the rest fell directly into the Chakki River.
Fortunately, no loss of life was reported in the incident. However, the affected family lost their dream home, which collapsed under the weight of the landslide. Locals said that the heavy monsoon rains in recent days had loosened the soil on the mountains, increasing the risk of such incidents.
Speaking about the tragedy, the victim family expressed their grief and helplessness. They said their house was reduced to rubble within moments, leaving them homeless in the middle of the rainy season. Residents of the village also echoed their concerns, urging the government and local administration to provide immediate assistance to the affected family.
The villagers have appealed for financial help and rehabilitation measures, so that the family can rebuild their home and restart their life. Authorities have been informed, and further steps are expected to be taken soon.
