India started their Asia Cup 2025 campaign in stunning fashion, registering their fastest run chase in history. Playing at the Dubai International Stadium, India chased down a modest target of 58 runs in just 27 balls to seal a commanding 8-wicket win over the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
After winning the toss, Indian captain opted to bowl first. The decision paid off immediately as the bowlers dominated. UAE were bundled out for just 57 runs in 13.1 overs. Their innings collapsed dramatically, losing the last eight wickets for only 28 runs. Opener Alishan Sharafu scored 22, while skipper Muhammad Waseem managed 19, but none of the other batters offered resistance.
For India, left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav was the star with the ball, claiming 4 wickets. All-rounder Shivam Dube provided strong support, picking up 3 wickets and tightening the screws on the UAE batting lineup.
In reply, India’s young openers ensured there was no pressure. Abhishek Sharma scored a brisk 30 before being dismissed, while Shubman Gill added 20 runs. Their attacking approach helped India wrap up the chase inside five overs, setting a new record for the team’s quickest successful pursuit.
With this emphatic victory, India have sent a strong message to their rivals early in the tournament.
