Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday praised the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for its crucial contribution to national security. He said that weapon systems developed by DRDO played a decisive role during Operation Sindoor, proving the organisation’s professional commitment to protecting India’s national interests.

Speaking during his visit to DRDO headquarters on the occasion of its 68th Foundation Day, Rajnath Singh said that DRDO will play an important role in building the country’s future “Sudarshan Chakra.” He expressed confidence that the organisation would work with full dedication to achieve this goal at the earliest.
The Mission Sudarshan Chakra was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2025 during his Independence Day address from the Red Fort. Under this mission, DRDO has been entrusted with the responsibility of equipping India’s vital locations with advanced air defence systems over the next decade to ensure complete aerial security.
The Defence Minister highlighted that modern warfare has clearly shown the importance of strong air defence, as seen during Operation Sindoor. He said he firmly believes DRDO will successfully meet this challenge.
Rajnath Singh also urged DRDO to keep pace with rapidly evolving technologies and continue developing products that meet the demands of changing times, ensuring India remains strong and self-reliant in defence capabilities.
