Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has arrived in Amritsar today to appear before the Akal Takht Sahib Secretariat. According to officials, all arrangements have been made as per the directions of Akal Takht Sahib’s Acting Jathedar, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj. The Secretariat usually opens at 9:30 am, and special staff has been deployed for the Chief Minister’s meeting with the Jathedar.
Sources said that the Chief Minister is expected to reach the Akal Takht Secretariat around 11 am. However, there has been some confusion regarding the timing of his appearance. While the Jathedar had stated that the Chief Minister should reach the Secretariat at 4:30 pm, Bhagwant Mann clarified that he has kept the entire day of January 15 free for this purpose.
The Chief Minister said he had cancelled all other engagements and even informed the President’s Office that the whole day would be dedicated to presenting his clarification and submitting evidence related to efforts made to trace the missing Sikh scriptures (saroops). He added that no official letter or statement regarding a change in timing was issued by him or his office.
Bhagwant Mann reiterated that he was ready to appear humbly before the Akal Takht Sahib at 10 am on January 15, as per the original understanding, showing his respect for the Sikh religious authority.
