A political controversy started in Punjab after government authorities took action at the house of Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira. According to Khaira, the action was carried out on the orders of the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Officials reportedly used heavy machinery, often referred to as a “yellow claw,” during the operation. The incident quickly became a major political issue and attracted attention from different parties.

While speaking to the media, Khaira strongly criticized the government’s action. He claimed that the land belongs to his family and that he has all the legal ownership documents. However, he alleged that the officials, including the SSP, did not listen to him and went ahead with the demolition of a wall near his property. Khaira also said that the authorities used the excuse of breaking a neighbour’s gate but ended up damaging his wall. He described the action as unfair and politically motivated.

Khaira warned that such actions send a message that anyone who speaks against the government could face similar treatment. He said the government is trying to create fear among people so that no one raises their voice against it. He also mentioned that for the past four years, several cases have been filed against him and that he even spent months in jail, but he is not afraid and will continue to speak out.
Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition Pratap Singh Bajwa expressed support for Khaira and said he was coming to meet him. Senior Akali leader Bikram Majithia also reportedly called Khaira and assured him of help. The issue has now become a major topic in Punjab politics, with opposition parties questioning the government’s actions and demanding a fair inquiry into the matter.
