The political uncertainty in Tamil Nadu has finally come to an end as TVK chief and actor Vijay is set to become the next Chief Minister of the state. Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar has reportedly given him permission to form the government after he submitted letters of support from alliance parties.

Vijay met the Governor at Lok Bhavan for the third consecutive day on Friday and presented support from a total of 118 MLAs. Along with TVK’s 107 MLAs, the alliance includes 5 MLAs from Congress and 2 MLAs each from CPI, CPI(M), and VCK, helping the coalition cross the majority mark in the 234-member Assembly.
TVK had won 108 seats in the Assembly elections, but Vijay was elected from two constituencies and will now have to vacate one seat as per election rules. Earlier, the Governor had refused to invite him to form the government because the required written support of 118 MLAs had not been submitted.
After securing the necessary numbers, Vijay’s path to becoming Chief Minister is now clear. He is expected to take oath as the new Chief Minister on Saturday.
