A major political development has taken place in Tamil Nadu after some MLAs of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) announced support for the government led by Chief Minister Joseph Vijay. The announcement was made during a press conference held in MRC Nagar, Chennai.

AIADMK leader C. V. Shanmugam said that a resolution was passed during the meeting of party legislators to support Vijay’s government. He accepted that the AIADMK-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) failed in the election and that the people of Tamil Nadu clearly voted in favor of Vijay and his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).
Shanmugam stated that the public wanted Vijay to become Chief Minister, and the party respects the people’s decision. He also said that AIADMK’s main political fight has always been against Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). According to him, some leaders wanted AIADMK to form a government with DMK’s support, but many MLAs strongly opposed this idea.
He further explained that during the legislators’ meeting, another proposal was passed to rebuild and strengthen the AIADMK party and create a new political alliance in the future.
Joseph Vijay took oath as the Chief Minister on Sunday and is now preparing to face a trust vote in the Assembly on May 13. His government has already received support from Indian National Congress, Indian Union Muslim League, and Left parties.
This political shift is being seen as an important moment in Tamil Nadu politics and could change the future political balance in the state.
