India has successfully completed Operation Amistad, a humanitarian mission launched to provide medical assistance to earthquake-hit Venezuela. The mission ended after the Indian medical team returned home, having offered critical healthcare services to thousands of people affected by the disaster. During the operation, the team carried out more than 8,000 medical consultations and laboratory tests, along with over 20 major surgeries, helping many patients in urgent need of treatment.

The relief mission was launched in coordination with the Venezuelan government after the deadly earthquakes that struck the country last month. A 41-member medical team from the Indian Army’s 60 Para Field Hospital Unit was airlifted to Venezuela on June 26 aboard two Indian Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircraft. The team included surgeons, orthopedic specialists, dentists, physicians, paramedics, and support staff, who worked together to provide emergency medical care to affected communities.

The Venezuelan government expressed appreciation for India’s timely support and humanitarian assistance during the crisis. It also thanked India for standing in solidarity with the people of Venezuela at a difficult time.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the Venezuelan authorities provided full cooperation to ensure the smooth deployment and functioning of the Indian medical team. The successful completion of Operation Amistad highlights India’s commitment to humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, reflecting its continued efforts to support countries facing natural disasters and humanitarian emergencies across the world.
