Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has accused the BJP of trying to break the National Conference (NC) and topple his government. He claimed that some NC legislators were offered ₹20–30 crore and ministerial positions to switch sides. According to Abdullah, when money and political posts failed to attract MLAs, they were allegedly promised the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood if they joined the BJP. He expressed confidence that no NC legislator would betray the party for money or power.

Abdullah also urged the Central Government not to mistake his party’s patience for weakness on the issue of restoring Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood. He questioned why the Centre was willing to hold talks with Ladakh leaders but not with the elected government in Jammu and Kashmir. Referring to the National Conference’s planned protest at Jantar Mantar on July 20, he appealed to other political parties to support the demand for statehood.
The BJP strongly rejected the allegations. Party leaders demanded that Omar Abdullah either provide evidence to support his claims or publicly apologise. They warned that legal action, including a defamation case, could be taken if he failed to do so. The BJP also alleged that the accusations were an attempt to divert public attention from the state government’s performance.
