The price of domestic LPG cylinders has been increased by Rs 29 per cylinder. This is the second price hike in the last three months. According to industry sources, the new rates came into effect on June 7. After the increase, the price of a 14.2 kg LPG cylinder in Delhi has gone up from Rs 913 to Rs 942.

Earlier, on March 7, the price of a domestic LPG cylinder was increased by Rs 60. The rise in prices is mainly linked to higher international energy costs and disruptions in global fuel supplies caused by tensions in West Asia.
Officials say that even after the latest increase, oil marketing companies are still facing losses on the sale of domestic LPG cylinders. Before this revision, companies were reportedly losing around Rs 703 on every cylinder sold.
The increase comes at a time when other fuels have also become more expensive. Petrol and diesel prices have risen by around Rs 7.5 per litre since mid-May, while CNG prices have increased by nearly Rs 6 per kilogram.
The government has not passed the full burden of rising global fuel prices on consumers and continues to absorb part of the cost through public sector oil companies.
