Union Minister RK Singh has emphasized the need for power plants to operate at full capacity to meet the surging demand for electricity, driven by rising temperatures across the country. With the Meteorological Department forecasting prolonged heatwaves, the government has directed all power plants, previously shut down for maintenance or repairs, to resume operations promptly.
Singh assured that every possible measure is being taken to ensure uninterrupted power supply amidst the escalating demand. In addition to urging power plants to maximize production, the government is actively monitoring the coal reserves at thermal power plants, aiming to maintain adequate stocks until June.
As the mercury continues to climb, the government remains vigilant in its efforts to mitigate the impact of the heatwave on electricity availability. The directive to power plants underscores the authorities’ commitment to safeguarding essential services and meeting the needs of the population during challenging weather conditions.
