New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially cancelled the NEET UG 2026 examination conducted on 3 May 2026 following allegations of irregularities and inputs received from central investigating agencies.
In an official statement, NTA said the decision was taken with the approval of the Government of India to maintain transparency and protect the credibility of the national examination system. The agency stated that findings shared by law enforcement agencies indicated that the present examination process could not be allowed to continue.

The Government of India has also referred the matter to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a detailed inquiry. NTA said it will fully cooperate with the investigation and provide all required records and documents.
According to the agency, the examination will now be conducted again on fresh dates, which will be announced separately through official channels. NTA also confirmed that students will not need to register again for the examination. Existing registration details, candidature, and selected examination centres from the May 2026 cycle will remain valid.
The agency further stated that no additional examination fee will be charged from candidates. Fees already paid by students will also be refunded, while the re-examination will be conducted using NTA’s internal resources.
NTA acknowledged that the decision may cause inconvenience and stress to students and their families, but said the step was necessary to preserve trust in the national examination process.
Candidates and parents have been advised to rely only on official announcements and avoid unverified information circulating on social media. Fresh examination dates and the revised admit card schedule are expected to be announced soon.
Helpline numbers released by NTA are 011-40759000 and 011-69227700, while students can also contact the agency through email at neet-ug@nta.ac.in.
