Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is covering up businessman Gautam Adani’s alleged corruption.

In a post on ‘X,’ Rahul Gandhi stated, “If you ask questions in India, there is silence; if you ask abroad, it becomes a ‘private matter.’ Even in America, Modi Ji shielded Adani Ji’s corruption.” He further added, “For Modi Ji, filling his friend’s pockets is ‘nation-building,’ while corruption and looting national assets become a ‘private matter.’”

Congress General Secretary (Communications) Jairam Ramesh also targeted PM Modi, saying, “Hearing Adani’s name, Modi Ji’s face turned pale. He then looked around and dismissed the question, calling it a private matter. Since when has corruption become a private matter?”

In another post, Ramesh mocked Modi’s political analogies, recalling how the PM previously used a mathematical equation to describe India-Canada relations and has now done something similar for India-US ties. He sarcastically remarked, “The only equation that really matters is Modi + Adani = ‘Modani’.”

Congress, through its official ‘X’ handle, also criticized PM Modi’s response to a journalist’s question in the US regarding Adani’s alleged corruption. The party claimed, “When asked about his close friend Adani’s corruption, Modi dismissed it as a private matter and changed the topic. His face turned pale upon hearing the question. Investigations are ongoing against Adani in Sri Lanka, Kenya, Bangladesh, Australia, and many other countries. People are protesting on the streets. Even in America, warrants have been issued in corruption cases. Yet, for Modi, it remains a ‘private matter’—a shameful stance.”
