The Railways has announced the cancellation of 67 trains in the Ambala division until May 13 due to farmers obstructing railway tracks at Shambhu barrier. Among these cancellations, 4 trains from Chandigarh and 1 from Mohali are affected, while over 50 trains are being rerouted via Chandigarh.
Due to the diversions, trains are running significantly late, causing inconvenience to passengers, with delays ranging from 5 to 10 hours beyond scheduled times. To mitigate the impact, officials assure passengers refunds for bookings made on the cancelled trains, available at any railway station counter.
The cancelled trains include the Chandigarh-Ferozepur, Chandigarh-Amritsar Superfast, Kalka-Ambala Passenger, Chandigarh-Amritsar, and Mohali-Ferozepur routes. In response to the disruptions, approximately 50 trains have been diverted via Chandigarh, including the Amritsar-Delhi Shatabdi and Jayanagar Express.
As the situation persists, railway authorities continue to monitor and manage operations to minimize inconvenience to passengers while ensuring safety and security along the affected routes.
