Eminent Marxist leader and CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury was honored with tributes at the party headquarters, AKG Bhavan, today. His body, draped in the red CPI(M) flag, was brought from his residence to the headquarters amidst chants of ‘Lal Salaam.’
Leaders from various political parties paid their respects. CPI(M) Politburo members Prakash Karat, Brinda Karat, P Vijayan, and MA Baby, along with other party members, offered their tributes. Congress Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, accompanied by Congress leaders, visited AKG Bhavan to lay flowers and extend condolences to Yechury’s wife, Seema Chishti.
Leaders from other parties, including Aam Aadmi Party’s Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, NCP (SP) president Sharad Pawar, and RJD MP Manoj Jha, also paid their respects. Following the tributes, Yechury’s body was donated for research at AIIMS.
